Franskraal Bowls Club has recently started an initiative to introduce school children to bowls. Archie Chambers, one of the club coaches, approached two of the local Gansbaai schools, Laerskool Gansbaai and Gansbaai Primary, to see if they would be interested in offering bowls to learners. Their response was overwhelming and we were able, in October, to start our first introduction to learners. Archie is supported in his endeavours by Philip Malherbe and no doubt other players will, from time to time, be able to lend a hand. This is an exciting initiative and hopefully we will be able to develop a group of youngsters that will stay with bowls for many years to come and achieve great things.
