In 1981 Franskraal found to have a shortage in recreational activities which resulted in a motivation to establish a Bowls Club. Under leaderships of Mr Floris Muller, a retired Bank Manager from Swellendam, a proposal was made to the Caledon Council in order to make property available. A founding committee appointed Mr Muller as Chairman, Mr P L Zietman - Assistant Chair, Mr Hannes de Kock - Secretary, other members Calla van Dyk, Jurie Otto, Hans Swart, Helen Marais and Peggie du Toit. With an entry of 15 members, the majority of the work on the first green was completed within the first year with only resources available being themselves. The official inauguration was held on the 2nd October 1982, with Mr A de Villiers as honorable guest. The Club named after Floris Muller due to the huge contribution that was made in the actual building and establishment of the club. This is a name and legacy date. Over the years the Club has grown from strength with being named as the fourth biggest club in the Boland District.
